ART THEME: The Indigenous Aboriginal Culture
Students will used visual creativity to develop an understanding of the cultural norms this ancient society valued. The study of the art and expression tells the story of their traditions and customs.
First Project: Dreamtime Animals. Students understand of the Australian Aborigines "Dreamtime." The Dreaming established the structure of their society, rules for social behavior, and the ceremonies performed to ensure continuity of life and land. Students created their own interpretation of an Australian indigenous animal to convey their understanding and significance of dot-making to create animals and life pathways. Students are building an understanding of color and design elements to ensure visual acuity.

Second Project: Students had so much fun manipulating wood scraps into Australian indigenous animals forms. It was challenging to glue and paint them in a tribal motif.
