ART THEME: The Indigenous Aboriginal Culture
Students will used visual creativity to develop an understanding of the cultural norms this ancient society valued. The study of the art and expression tells the story of their traditions and customs
First Project: Dreamtime Shape and Line. Students understand of the Australian Aborigines "Dreamtime." The Dreaming established the structure of their society, rules for social behavior, and the ceremonies performed to ensure continuity of life and land. Students created their own interpretation of an Australian indigenous Shape and Line Art to convey their understanding and significance of dot-making to create their own personal line, shape and paths. Students are building an understanding of color and design elements to ensure visual acuity.

Second Project: Students had so much fun manipulating wood scraps into Australian indigenous animals forms. It was challenging to glue and paint them in a tribal motif.
Student Portraits: warm vs cool tones display an Aboriginal overture.
Charcoal Portraits challenged students to see value, shadows and highlights.
