FIRST PROJECT: The Hudson River Group of artists created landscapes of America's wilderness enticing people to go west and benefit from the vast land and its natural resources. Students viewed many works created by modern landscape artists. With oil pastel, students were challenged to showcase their understanding of depth using the horizon line, size, shape and color to create modern landscapes.
Second Project: The Conestoga wagon was a heavy, covered wagon pulled by horses, oxen or mules. The wagon moved families west in search of land to farm and a better life. Dr. Seuss provided inspiration for students to invent modern modes of transportation moving us to future lands of opportunity!
