theme: Urban Verses Rural
Students will demonstrate their understanding of the words urban and rural. Understanding cultural norms and economics differences in rural and urban American are displayed in students art
Project 1: Students were asked to use perspective techniques to display an street view of a urban landscape with people at work. Students use overlapping and size to show their understanding of depth.
Project 2: Candy Houses. Students viewed architectural Victorian homes and the craft of gingerbread house making. Students designed and painted their candy houses with color, detailing architectural elements, background and foreground imagery.
Project 3: Students made either rural or urban tiny clay landscapes.
Project 4: Graphite and Still Life. This still life was mostly white and a little bit of red. Students had to render what they saw and build up their values; light to dark.
Project 5: Cross sections of a House. A very unique perspective house design.
