THEME: Social Celebrations and Fun
Artistic response will showcase personal forms of fun and celebration. Students will also look at different societies and cultural celebrations to be inspiration for students to creatively respond to iconic traditional art forms.

Project 1: Gradient backgrounds add additional movement for students to showcase their human silhouettes in motion.
Project 2; Ikebana is the Japanese art of floral design. This art is practiced to create arrangements showcasing a sense of composition and understanding of color and design. This is a disciplined art form which celebrates the bringing together nature and humanity. Students used paper to fold, bend, cut, glue and layer to create interest, and levels of floral arrangements.
Project 3: German Nutcrackers According to German folklore, nutcrackers were given as keepsakes to bring good luck to your family and protect your home. The legend says that a nutcracker represents power and strength, guarding from evil spirits and danger. A fierce protector, the nutcracker bares its teeth to the evil spirits and brings good luck and goodwill. Historical, Nutcrackers embody the ‘Cycle of Life', As the seed of a nut falls to the ground, it grows into a strong tree, living over hundreds of years nourishing the woodcutters and wood crafters. German dining customs with unusual nutcrackers was part of the social celebrations adding a whimsical conversation pieces as guests lingered over the desert course which included sweetmeats such as pecans and hazelnuts.
