Theme: Communication and Expression: Students have been asked to communicate and express their thoughts with visually creativity.
Project 1: All Eighth Grade students were challenged to integrate music and art . Students created a musical score which represents their likes and personal goals in their music class. Students then were asked to create a visual representation of their choices. Students displayed their passions using old records to capture their creative thoughts.
Project 2: Students were asked to visually communicate fun, compassion and movement using the human figure and the background of a musical compositions.
Project 3: Students drew self-portraits using mirrors. After realistic features were rendered, students used their features to rearrange and compose an abstraction of themselves. The abstraction was colored with oil pastels and will be used to create a clay relief in their next project
Project 4: Students used their portrait abstraction to create a 3D model using clay hand building techniques. Students glazed choosing colors to create contrast and visual interest.
Project 5: Landscape Expressionism. Students painted with color to express their mood, color preferences and brush techniques for a realistically rendered observed landscape.
