Project 1: Medieval Mapping. After viewing the intricate drawings of medieval maps displaying countries, cities and the flat world of the past. Students rendered personal maps including a compass rose and a monster.
Project 2: Medieval Stained Glass. The stained glass windows that are familiar today did not come about until the 10th century, with the construction of Gothic cathedrals. The oldest complete stained glass windows are showcased in the Augsburg Cathedral in Germany, constructed in the late 11th century. Students painted glass and cut into tiles which they arranged into original work. Color choices shows their understanding of light verse dark.
Project 3: Manga in the Middle Ages: Body form and clothing allowed for students to portray images based on this historical era.
