Project 1: Romare Britto, an contemporary artist from Brazil, “exudes warmth, optimism and love," in his artwork. His unique fusion of Pop Art and Cubism reflects the expressionism and abstract figurative style featuring vivid colors common in Latino arts and crafts.
Project 2: Cuban Cars. Cubans have a love affair with the early American Cars of the 1940's, 50's and 60's. Students chose cars to observe details and perspective to create vibrant color images.
Project 3: Oaxacan Animals are carved from Copal wood and are an expression of Mexican Folk Art. The talented Indigenous Indian carvers of the Valley of the Oaxaca, Mexico create wonderful animal sculptures carved into the ingenious animal shape and painted with amazing patterns and colors. Students used clay to build and sculpt animals of their choice and glazed and patterned into works of art.
