Welcome to Ms. Schulten's homeroom
Theme: German Folk Culture/Holocaust Art
Students will explore German folk culture, arts and artifacts and motifs. The best way to describe folk art is to say it is the craftsmanship of people from a local area which depicts the everyday life and social beliefs. We will also touch on the art produced during and as reflection to the Holocaust.

Project 1: The Family Tree is depicted in many different artifacts of German Folk art. Students created a visual representation of their family tree.
Project 3; The Spider Web. A German Folk Tale
Project 3 This project was based on the art created by the young children in one of the German concentration camps. A young teacher had students create art and poems with the children in the camp to take their minds of the horrific conditions and events that were happening to them and their families. Children used scraps of paper and trash to record and draw, family holidays, their memories, thoughts and portraits of each other. DMS students used scraps of paper to make a collage of their memories, important events in their life, family members, pets and future goals or aspirations.
